ACTIVE SERVICE DRESS AND WORK UNIFORMS


















Officers Field caps followed the pattern of the rest of the army. The Austrian pattern cap (above Left) had been worn since the mid 1870s. The Field cap of 1895 (Right) was worn till early the next century.
On Campaign or work details the scarlet frock was worn. The Sam Browne equipment was usually worn (as described in the 1900 Dress Regulations). On the left shown with the single cross brace. on the right is the Standard blue frock with Sam Browne and double braces.
For Submarine Mining work, officers could wear the double breasted Pea Jacket. It was described as having a stand collar. Many examples have a stand and fall collar.
